Coordinator Paul Sustronk '81 somehow managed to assemble the following Old Boys at the ungodly hour of 8:30 a.m. for an opening game against the Lakefield B team: Bill Beasley '77; Tom Lytle and Lang Moffat '78; Donald Green and Graham Stuart '79; Gordon Moffat, Pat Bates and Rick Withey '82; John Charron '83; Mark Barr '84; and Greg Sikora '87. Our results were Appleby 4, Lakefield B 1; St. Andrew's (the eventually winners) 8, Appleby 1; Lakefield A 4, Appleby 3. Good fun and camaraderie prevailed throughout. Though the first annual dinner was held in 1916, it was not until 1920 that The Old Boys' Association was formed when Old Boys G.W.S. Adams, T.G. Heaton, A.L. Ambrose, R.E. Haas, A.D. MacLean and A.H. Gillespie met to officially form the organization. As a result of coeducation, the name of the organization was changed to The Appleby College Alumni Association effective September 1, 1991.
