Football Cufflinks

Item consists of a pair of cuff links. The cuff links are capped with a colour enamel Appleby College crest; on one link is engraved '1971' and the other '1976'. This gift was presented to John by his coach David 'Digger' Smith upon the completion of his final football season at Appleby. His football career began in grade 9 with the Under 15 team. In grade 10, John was selected to play on the First Team. He captained his last two years.

Gold Opimates pin

Item consists of a push pin featuring the school's mascot the greyhound inside a circle. This was an academic award given in 1975-1976 to John for participating in Optimates.

Governor General of Canada and Medals

File consists of correspondence related to the Governor-General's Academic Medal winners, as well as the Governor General's Canadian Study Conference. It also includes a Maclean's magazine article about the Governor General Jeanne Sauve, as well as correspondence inviting the Her Majesty The Queen on becoming at Patron of Appleby College.

Key to St. Thomas

Item consists of an honourary key to St. Thomas, with the inscription, "Boy's Choir of Appleby College, 13th March 1955".

Lieutenant Governor Award

Series consists of a letter addressed to John letting him know he has won the Lieutenant-Governor's Silver Medal award. The series also includes the award pin.

Prizelists

File consists of four Appleby College prize lists for June 1932, June 1933, June 1934 and June 1935. Willard Dillion (W.D.) Walker is a prize winner all four years.

Series consists of TV Guide Award nominee silver-plated bowls for Massey’s performance in “Tyger, Tyger” and “Dr. Kildare” and newspaper clippings highlighting Massey’s career.

School days

Series consists of a Head Prefect Acceptance letter, a 1976 report card, and several pins and cuff links related to John's time as a student at Appleby College. The series also contains a book awarded to John for the Headmaster's Special Award, as well as a blazer, rugby jersey, football jersey, and three ties.
