Her teaching load includes courses in German, French and Latin, and she is involved in novice skating. Well-qualified for her new position, Kathleen has an Honours B.A. in German and Classical Civilization and a M.A. in Classical Studies from McMaster University, and a B.Ed. from Toronto. She has taught German and French for the Durham Board of Education for the past seven years, and has also spent a considerable amount of time studying abroad in Italy and West Germany. She also worked for two seasons as an archaeologist doing field surveys in sites in Southern Italy. Most recently, she has been an historical interpreter and teacher at the Museum of Montgomery's Inn in Etobicoke. Travelling is one of her major interests, and she has been to virtually every country in Europe at least once. Kathleen is also a strong supporter of student exchanges, and has acted as a teacher/chaperon of several tours, including one to the Soviet Union in 1988. She was a member of the Classical Association of Canada from 1979 until 1988, and includes dance, theatre and photography among her hobbies. She is also interested in Nineteenth Century quilt and bedcovering design, research and reproduction." This event was described in The Appleby Quarterly (December 1990).
