F03-S01-T007 · Item · 1918 - 1969
Part of Appleby College Artifact, Trophy, Textile and Art Collection

Item consists of 'The Kerrigan Cup' or Appleby School Rifle - Shooting Championship presented by James E. Kerrigan, Esq, London, ONT, 1918. The trophy lists the year and the award winner. No competition was held between 1922 and 1926.

This award was most likely associated with the Appleby College Cadet Corps #440.

Item consists of a trophy presented by Peel Music Festival for Boys Choir Unchanged voices. Awarded in 1919 - 1921.

The Boy’s Choir – Unchanged voices trophy from the Peel Music Festival was first awarded to Appleby College in 1950. The choir would also win the trophy in 1951 and 1952. Led by choirmaster Mr. Lesley Bott, the choir would go on to win other awards at the Peel Music Festival, including the top school choir in 1952.

The Archives collection holds a photograph (see AC01_0916) of three students holding the trophy in 1950-1951.

The trophy as it stands today is on the wrong base. At some point in the past, the trophy was removed from the base as seen in the photograph and placed on the base it is now on, which has the wrong dates.
