Bill Banting in the centre is holding the Turquand Cup, which is emblematic of the Heavyweight Boxing Championship at Appleby from 1915 to 1968. Bill Banting won this award in 1947 and 1948. This event was described in The Appleby Quarterly (December 1993, vol. 15, no. 2).

The Boy’s Choir – Unchanged voices trophy from the Peel Music Festival was first awarded to Appleby College in 1950. The choir would also win the trophy in 1951 and 1952. Led by choirmaster Mr. Lesley Bott, the choir would go on to win other awards at the Peel Music Festival, including the top school choir in 1952.
The Archives collection holds a photograph (see AC01_0916) of three students holding the trophy in 1950-1951.
The trophy as it stands today is on the wrong base. At some point in the past, the trophy was removed from the base as seen in the photograph and placed on the base it is now on, which has the wrong dates.

Daphne M. Collins was an English Teacher at Appleby College from Sept. 1979 until her retirement in June 1986. She was also an Academic Counsellor for Grades 4 to 6 during the 1985-1986 academic year. She taught English to grades 5, 6 and 7.

The trophy was sponsored by Dr. W. Desmond Burke, who's two sons (Desmond '78 and David '80) where attending Appleby College and for whom both were avid swimmers. This trophy was named in honour of their grandfather, Desmond T. Burke in recognition of his interest in the pursuance of excellence in sport. The trophy was awarded to the student who showed the greatest degree of excellence in swimming in the Junior School.
This is the second trophy that Dr. Burke sponsored for swimming at Appleby College.
The trophy was awarded in the first full year that Appleby had a swimming program. The Junior School program at Appleby College ended in June 1993.
Item consists of the E.G. Beardmore Trophy for the best Sergeant in the Cadet Corps, presented by E.G. Beardmore. This award was affiliated with the Appleby College Cadet Corps #440.
E. Gordon Beardmore attended Appleby College from 1934 to 1940. He was a prefect in 1939; played rugby, cricket, hockey and was also on the gym team. He was also Captain of the Cadet Corps in 1939-1940. During World War 2 he served as a Lieutenant and by 1959 was a Major of the Royal Regiment of Canada.

This trophy was initially called the 'W. Desmond Burke Inter-House Trophy) and was awarded to the winners of an Inter-House competition held annually on the first Saturday of the New School Year. This trophy was awarded in the first year of swimming program at Appleby College.

The award was first given in 1977 by the Appleby College Women's Association and was originally called the Women's Auxiliary Citizenship Award (Intermediate). This award was also known as 'The Women's Association Cup for Citizenship (Junior), and was awarded to a student in grade 4, 5 or 6.
During the transition to coeducation in 1990-1991, the Association changed its name to the Appleby College Parent's Association.

The ledger starts in 1911 when Rugby, Hockey and Cricket were played at the school. It lists Head Prefects for some years, along with the results of the Annual Sports Day events. For some years it also lists who the winner was for various trophies and sports awards. Some years also list the results of Inter-house competitions, as well as who were the leaders in the Cadets.

Given in memory of William "Billy" Richard Wright who was the second Appleby Old Boy to give his life during the Great War. Billy was an original student at Appleby and Head Prefect in his final year. He died on May 13, 1917 at the age of 19.
First name inscribed on trophy reads: "1922 P.R.S. walsham (S) - from School House. According to the December 1918 Argus yearbook, the first winner of the trophy was C.E.N. Kaulbach.
