Item consists of the Daphne M. Collins Award for Academic Distinction in Grade VI (six) at Appleby College (Junior School). Grade six ended at Appleby College in June 1993. Between 1994 and 1999, the award was presented to a Middle School student who was a keen and inquiring learner.

Daphne M. Collins was an English Teacher at Appleby College from Sept. 1979 until her retirement in June 1986. She was also an Academic Counsellor for Grades 4 to 6 during the 1985-1986 academic year. She taught English to grades 5, 6 and 7.

Item consists of the Desmond T. Burke Memorial Trophy for swimming.

The trophy was sponsored by Dr. W. Desmond Burke, who's two sons (Desmond '78 and David '80) where attending Appleby College and for whom both were avid swimmers. This trophy was named in honour of their grandfather, Desmond T. Burke in recognition of his interest in the pursuance of excellence in sport. The trophy was awarded to the student who showed the greatest degree of excellence in swimming in the Junior School.

This is the second trophy that Dr. Burke sponsored for swimming at Appleby College.

The trophy was awarded in the first full year that Appleby had a swimming program. The Junior School program at Appleby College ended in June 1993.

Item consists of the Parent's Association Citizenship Award.

The award was first given in 1977 by the Appleby College Women's Association and was originally called the Women's Auxiliary Citizenship Award (Intermediate). This award was also known as 'The Women's Association Cup for Citizenship (Junior), and was awarded to a student in grade 4, 5 or 6.

During the transition to coeducation in 1990-1991, the Association changed its name to the Appleby College Parent's Association.

MacKendrick Trophy

Item consists of the MacKendrick Trophy for the best gymnast on the Junior Gymnastics Team, presented by Mr. and Mrs. W. Harry MacKendrick.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Harry MacKendricks' son, Louis Kim McKendrick '59, attended Appleby College from 1949 to 1959 and was a member of the Junior and later Senior Gymnast Team.

Note on verso: "Though many of the planned activities of the Junior School's Winter Carnival were rained out, the boys still found time to enjoy a music visit from Louisiana singer and pianist Bill Russell and French-Canadian fiddler Anne Lederman. The audience was encouraged to sing along, and at one point were up on their feet dancing with Russell. Bon Homme (alias Junior School Director Michael Nightingale) also joined in the Mardi Gras festivities and a wonderful afternoon was had by all." Though Indian Chief Jimmy Dick had been scheduled to attend, last-minute travel difficulties forced him to cancel his visit." This event was described in The Whippet (January/February 1990).
