File consists of 4 copies of the book: Appleby School: A Sketch-book by Gordon E. Payne. Sketches include the following: Main Doorway of Appleby School; Door to chapel; Chapel and Schoolhouse (now Colley House) from the drive; Interior of the chapel; Powell's House and School House (now Colley House); Powell's House from the tennis court; view from the playing field which shows part of Powell's House and the chapel.

Mr. Payne (1890 - 1983) was a well-known Canadian artist created this souvenir book for the school in 1930-1931. The cost of the book at the time was $3 and the school had 100 copies of the book made. See article on pgs. 33-34 of the Feb. 1931 Argus.

The guide discusses approved colours, stationary, typefaces, logos and symbols, abbreviations, capitalization, numbers, punctuation, and writing best practices including sample letters.
