Fonds consists of two objects relating to alumni Alan Sproule (Class of 1955) and consists of a 50 year pin and a hymn book.

On December 4, 1949 he was confirmed in the Appleby College Chapel, with J.A. Bell as Headmaster. His parents gifted him the hymn book for this occasion. An article about the event can be found in the 1950 Argus yearbook on page 9.

On the occasion of becoming part of the 50th Reunion Club in 2005, he was gifted the pin. An article and picture appear in the Summer 2005 Appleby Quarterly magazine.

It includes a 1917 letter inquiring about the sale of a bull, a postcard addressed to the school dated to 1918, a 1919 letter from Prince Edward - The Prince of Wales from his visit to Canada, a Christmas greeting letter from 1935 talking about the skating and ice conditions, a letter to Sir Edmund Walker regarding a suitable camp site for the students in 1920 (Camp Kushog - See Dec. 1920 Argus), a letter dated to 1938 discussing the cooking and food offerings at the school, reminiscences of school days gone by, the hanging of the new Canadian flag at Appleby College in 1965, and a letter dated to 1966 discussing the 1913-1914 prefects.

The file also includes correspondence regarding Miss Grindlay's photo album, correspondence from various alumni about their time at Appleby, correspondence about articles in the Quarterly and Argus including the school bell, as well as letters from family of alumni who may have donated items to the school archives. It also includes a sworn declaration regarding the history of McCraney House.

Note on verso: "Old Boys compete in Early Bird Hockey Tournament - Our Old Boys' Hockey team accepted an invitation to join six other ISAA alumni teams in a two-day tournament hosted by Lakefield College School in early November. Coordinator Paul Sustronk '81 somehow managed to assemble the following Old Boys at the ungodly hour of 8:30 a.m. for an opening game against the Lakefield B team: Bill Beasley '77; Tom Lytle and Lang Moffat '78; Donald Green and Graham Stuart '79; Gordon Moffat, Pat Bates and Rick Withey '82; John Charron '83; Mark Barr '84; and Greg Sikora '87. Our results were Appleby 4, Lakefield B 1; St. Andrew's (the eventually winners) 8, Appleby 1; Lakefield A 4, Appleby 3. Good fun and camaraderie prevailed throughout.
