Item consists of a black and white photograph of the Yugoslavian flag flying at Appleby College on Yugoslavia Day for Flag Day. Note on verso: "0 Canada...? - When Brian Millett presented an Australian flag to the School shortly after his arrival last year, he probably didn't realize that he had provided the inspiration for a 'Flag Day' programme. Geography teacher John Berriman flew that Australian flag on Australia Day last January, and ever since then, flags of various countries have been donated by Appleby families and flown on their respective national days. An attempt to raise awareness and show appreciation for Appleby's many different ethnic backgrounds, the School has amassed more than 40 flags to date. Shown above is the Yugoslavia national flag, flying on Yugoslavia Day, November 29th." This event was described in The Appleby Quarterly (December 1989, vol. 12, no. 2).
