Advancement

Series consists of records pertaining to the Advancement department and specifically records related to raising of money for various development and capital projects for Appleby College. Series includes the following sub-series: Building Campaigns, Donor Relations, Annual Fund, Endowed Funds, planned giving, galas and auctions, and the Fine Wine Auction.

Sub-series consists of records pertaining to various building and fundraising campaigns to fund capital improvement projects around campus.

News of Appleby, Old Boys’ Association newsletter

File consists of Appleby Old Boys Association newsletter, News of Appleby. These newsletters were in addition to the Argus Yearbook. The 1943 newsletter details many Old Boys and their military status during World War Two. The 1947 newsletter providing information on The Building Campaign, The memorial window in The Chapel dedicated in memory to J. William Weis. It also includes personal updates for many Old Boys.

Newspaper Clippings

File consists of two newspaper clippings on the death of Thomas B. Colley as well as a short article regarding The Building Campaign of 1946-1947.

Memorial Classroom Building

File consists of the official opening program and speeches for the laying of the Foundation Stone of the Memorial Classroom Building and the opening and dedication ceremony of the new Memorial Classroom Building on Friday May 12, 1950.

Argus 1961 Jun

Item consists of the June 1961 Argus yearbook. It provides a history of the school on the 60th anniversary and includes an article recalling what the school was like in the first years (1911-1913), including the barn fire.

It also includes articles on field trips to the General Mills Company, Continental Can Company and aboard the 'Gordon C. Leitch'.

J.S. Gairdner Arena

File consists of the official opening program for the opening of the J.S. Gairdner Arena on Friday Feb. 6, 1970.

File consists of records pertaining to the official opening of the Schlesinger Dining Hall and the closing of the John Guest Dining Hall and includes the program, menu and promotional material for The Last Supper event at the John Guest Dining Hall on Tuesday March 6, 2007.

File also includes the program and speeches for the opening of the Schlesinger Dining Hall on November 26, 2007. This event was also the official closing of the Promise The Future Campaign.
